This is described further in Section 4. These tools are not activated until you provide consent via the cookie banner on this site.

BCU Scales is not responsible for the data practices of third-party services listed above. Each operates independently under its own privacy policy and security practices.
You can opt out of Google Analytics via the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on. You can manage Meta ad preferences at facebook.com/ads/preferences.
5. Cookies and Consent
Our site displays a cookie consent banner on your first visit. Third-party tracking cookies (Meta Pixel, Google Analytics) are not set until you click Accept. If you click Decline, no tracking cookies are set and those services do not load.
Your consent preference is stored in your browser's local storage. You may change your preference at any time by clearing your browser's local storage or contacting us at bcuscales@gmail.com.
We do not set first-party cookies beyond what is required for the consent preference itself.
6. Data Retention
Contact form submissions are retained in our email inbox for up to 2 years from the date received, after which they are permanently deleted unless an active business relationship requires otherwise.
Analytics data is governed by the retention settings of the respective platforms (Google Analytics: 14 months by default; Meta: per their data policy).
7. Your Rights — Including Do Not Sell or Share
Depending on your location, you may have rights under applicable privacy laws (including the California Consumer Privacy Act / CPRA) to:

Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information
We do not sell your personal information. However, when you consent to cookies, Meta Pixel shares behavioral data with Meta Platforms for advertising purposes, which may constitute "sharing" under CPRA. To opt out, either (a) click Decline on the cookie banner, (b) clear your browser's local storage to reset your consent preference, or (c) email bcuscales@gmail.com with the subject line "Do Not Share" and we will process your request within 15 business days.

8. Data Security
Form submissions are accessed only by BCU Scales founders and are not stored outside of email. All data transmitted between your browser and our site is encrypted via HTTPS. Contact form submissions are transmitted via Resend over encrypted connections before being stored in our Gmail inbox.
No method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure. If you have reason to believe your interaction with us has been compromised, contact us immediately at bcuscales@gmail.com.
9. Children
Our site is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has submitted information to us, contact us and we will delete it promptly.
10. Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy from time to time. When we make material changes, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. For significant changes affecting how we use your personal information, we will provide additional notice where practicable. Continued use of our site following notice of material changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
